Princeton Measurements Vibrating Sample Magnetometer
The MicroVSM's (a.k.a. VSM2, and VSM3) are equipped with either a liquid helium cryostat or flowing helium gas furnace and a stepper motor that rotates the vibration head. This allows you to measure magnetization as a function of three independent variables: field, temperature, and orientation. Moment and remanence measurements as a function of temperature are useful for mineral identification through low temperature transition and curie point determinations, and anisotropy measurements help quantify particle orientations.
